Lecture Introduction
This Biblical Counseling session is a time to learn and share how to care for those who are suffering in a biblical way. Biblical counseling is not a ministry for a select few, but a personal ministry of the Word that every member of the church can participate in (Eph. 4:12–13). Having received God's comfort, we are called to comfort others with the same comfort (2 Cor. 1:4). Through this time, we will learn how to understand people through the Word, walk alongside them, share each other's burdens, and find practical ways to help (Gal. 6:2; Eph. 4:15–16).
Lecture Content
Theme: How biblical counseling, as a personal ministry of the Word, helps the church and equips believers as instruments of God.
We will share practical cases and discuss the following questions:
- In single house churches or small ministry communities, how can we effectively help people going through real struggles?
- Does the church have the resources to help with parenting, marriage, relationship conflicts, mental and emotional difficulties, and various real-life issues?
- If we truly believe in the sufficiency of Scripture as a church, are we turning to it for answers—or relying on other sources (psychological & psychiatric)?
- Is our current 1:1 discipleship sufficient—or are we missing something?
- Does the church understand people holistically?
- When we help others, do we have a clear model?
- After justification, are we actually growing and bearing the fruit of sanctification?
- Is the church fully utilizing the wisdom of senior shepherds and missionaries?
- Does the church have resources to support those suffering from illness or nearing the end of life?
